Building a Mission Community
As we continue to build a mission community that can support and sustain a Young Life ministry presence in Toronto I wanted to give you an update. As with most things that involve new growth, there is a lot going on underneath the surface. Each week I'm meeting 2-3 new people who are interested in our mission and can connect me with others.
I'm experiencing Toronto's famous diversity with each new friendship and discussing its implications for the lives of young people across the city. I'm on the lookout for people who are already investing in the lives of teenagers in particular neighbourhoods and schools, and trusting that Jesus will lead me to potential volunteer leaders and staff. Even though much of the growth is at the root level, a few things will be peeking through in the coming months that I
want to share with you. I look forward to reporting back in on these happenings in the coming months.
New Community Dinners
As we continue to meet new people in Toronto, as well as maintaining and growing friendships already begun, it makes sense to invite these people in to friendships with each other. It is out of this kind of community that a Young Life mission team will grow.
On Thursday, February 7, we will be hosting a community dinner for friends of Young Life at our house in York Mills. This time around we plan on between 6and 8 coming for a casual meal, conversation, and prayer. We plan on repeating this pattern once a month.
