"If we are going to tell them about the one who made them, about the one who made everything, we ought to do it in a place that speaks well of Him."

--Young Life Founder, Jim Rayburn

The big idea behind Young Life camp is to proclaim the greatness and the unique beauty of Jesus Christ in a thousand different ways.  A few of the ways:

• The food is GOOD, it's brought right to the table, and there is as much as you want.

• The beds are made when kids arrive.

• Campers and leaders are greeted by cheering work crew when they get off the bus.

• The program, the schedule, and the details are all planned out ahead of time so that leaders have the time to build relationships with their kids.

• Young Life camps are built in places and in ways that help kids appreciate and experience the beauty of creation.

• Everything is approached with a mindset of excellence, as if important people are going to be there (because teenagers are important people).

Every kid who goes to Young Life camp experiences these and countless other non-verbal expressions of the love of Christ.  In addition to all of that, each night, kids get to hear the story of Jesus, the One who made them, and the One who made everything.  They get to hear about Him in a way that they can understand and appreciate.  And at least once that week, they will get to sit down over a milkshake or a soda with their leader and share their thoughts and impressions of Jesus and what they want to do with what they have learned that week.  And if they don't believe, aren't interested, not ready-- nothing changes.  They are still loved, valued and belong.
