Fruitful Young Life work with teenagers has always grown out of prayer, as prayer allows God's people to connect with him and know where and how to join him in what he is already doing in our midst. Tuesday, October 14th is Young Life's Global Day of Prayer, and friends of Young Life across Canada will be joining others all over the world to pray for the young people in our communities.
Here in Toronto, as we continue to grow our mission community, I want to invite you to join with me as I pray for our city next week. Together, we can seek to join in with God's purposes for blessing the city and its young people.
On Tuesday, I'm going to be spending the day doing an E-Bike "prayer ride" around Toronto, following a route that will take me through neighbourhoods in all six of Toronto's "boroughs" (the six former cities that make up modern Toronto). I'll be sure to pray for schools and churches as I pass them, and be looking and listening for what God may want to say to me along the way. Would you be willing to "come along for the ride?"

We had our first WyldLife club of the school year last Friday, and clubs will continue bi-weekly throughout the year. WyldLife is our ministry with middle school students. If you know a middle school student, or a parent of one who might like to connect, let us know!

We are getting to know a growing number of high school students in Toronto (mostly, but not exclusively, in Midtown). This Friday, we are gathering them together at the Cook's home to celebrate "Friendsgiving." (A Thanksgiving meal with one's friends, often in addition to a family meal on another day.) We're excited for ongoing, consistent ministry with high school students in Midtown to gain momentum over this year.

Over the last two years or so, we have been able to cultivate and grow our first Young Life "Area" in Midtown. Eventually, we would love to see as many as 10-12 localized Young Life areas in the city of Toronto. As we continue to strengthen the team in Midtown, we have gotten to know people in other parts of the city who have asked about starting Young Life in their part of the city. We have had initial interest expressed in South Etobicoke and East York, as well as interest in working with teens with disabilities. If you have any contacts in or near any of those communities with a possible interest in Young Life, let us know!
